Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard:
OSH ACT of 1970 Section (5)(a)(1): The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to struck-by hazards while performing manure handling operations. On or about May 18, 2018, an employee was exposed to struck-by hazards created by the load pipe of a Houle Agitator and Manure Pump (S/N CAA2-0904625) when a cap was placed on the load pipe after it began leaking manure allowing it to become pressurized. The pressurization resulted in the pipe becoming a projectile and it flew from the agitator through the cab of the tractor striking the employee.
