29 CFR 1926.1403(a): The employer did not use the manufacturer's instructions during the assembly/disassembly process: The employer failed to comply with the manufacturer's disassembly instructions. The procedures used did not provide adequate support and stability of all parts of the equipment to ensure employees were not exposed to unintended movement or collapsing parts of the equipment. On or about April 26, 2018 and at times prior thereto, the supervisor who was acting as the Assembly/Disassembly (A/D) Director for the Link-Belt 218 crane disassembly did not use the manufacturer's disassembly procedures. The boom was not supported during the removal of pins and employees were allowed to travel under the boom while pins were being removed. This condition exposed employees to struck-by hazards.
