29 CFR 1926.501(b)(1): Each employee on a walking/working surface with an unprotected side or edge which was 6 feet (1.8 m) or more above a lower level was not protected from falling by the use of guardrail systems, safety net systems, or personal fall arrest systems: (a) On or about March 20, 2018, and at times prior, the employer did not ensure that each employee on a walking/working surface with an unprotected side or edge 6 feet or more above a lower level was protected from falling by the use of guardrail systems, safety net systems, or personal fall arrest systems. Employees were exposed to fall hazards in excess of 50 feet while conducting drilling operations as part of a rock fall mitigation project in that employees standing on the rock slope immediately outside of drill basket DR-52 were not protected from falling by guardrail systems, safety net systems, or personal fall arrest systems.
