29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks: a) MATES Building, Fort Pickett, Blackstone, VA 23824: On March 1, 2018, and times prior thereto, the employer did not guard the turbo air inlet fan blade during ground hop engine maintenance activities on the M109 Palladin tank, exposing employees to caught-in hazards. Abatement certification and documentation required within 10 days after abatement date. The certification shall include a statement that abatement is complete, the date and method of abatement, and state that employees and their representatives were informed of this abatement. Abatement documentation shall include documents demonstrating that abatement is complete, such as evidence of the purchase or repair of equipment, photographic or video evidence of abatement or other written records.
