Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard:
OSH ACT of 1970 Section (5)(a)(1): The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which was free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to struck-by and caught between hazards associate with missing bolts on storage racks. This was most recently documented, on or about 1/28/2018, at 3070 Wilson Ave, Leavenworth, KS 66048, where employees engaged in loading or unloading activities at southeast part of the shop were exposed to struck-by and caught between hazards in that the storage racks were not fully anchored to the floor with bolts. Among other methods of abatement, feasible methods would include, to anchor the racks to the floor as per the American National Standard Institute MH 16.1: 2012, section 1.4.7. Section 1.4.7 states, "All rack columns shall be anchored to the floor with anchor bolts, which shall be designed in accordance with Section 7.3, to resist all applicable forces as described in Section 2.1 or Section 2.2."
