Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard:
29 CFR 1926.416(a)(1): Employees were permitted to work in proximity to electric power circuits and were not protected against electric shock by de-energizing and grounding the circuits or effectively guarding the circuits by insulation or other means: The employer is failing to protect employees from electrical hazards. Most recently, on or about 11/29/17, at I-44 eastbound, specifically at mile marker 275.4, the driller erected a Central Mine Equipment CME-75 Drill Rig, drill serial #183277, engine serial number 01350B6TK, into the air beneath a 12kv overhead power line (OHPL) running perpendicular to the interstate. The drill rig made contact with the OHPL electrocuting the driller.
