Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard:
OSH ACT of 1970 Section (5)(a)(1): The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees: a) On or about and at times prior to September 28, 2017 , employees working on a residential roof were exposed to the hazards of high ambient temperature and working in direct sunlight, which produced Wet Bulb Globe Temperatures (WBGT) of 86.2 degrees Fahrenheit (Heat Index of 98.4 degrees Fahrenheit), while performing moderate manual labor consisting of re-roofing activities. Such exposures may lead to the development of serious heat-related illnesses such as, but not limited to, heat cramps, heat exhaustion, and heat stroke.
