Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard:
OSH ACT of 1970 Section (5)(a)(1): The employer does not furnish to each of his employees employment and a place of employment which are free from recognized hazards that are causing or are likely to cause death or serious physical harm to his employees, in that employees are exposed to struck-by and/or caught-between hazards: This violation occurred on October 2, 2017, where an employee who was inspecting welds stood in the immediate vicinity of sets of stairs that posed a tipping and crushing hazard. The employee was not protected from struck-by and/or crushed-by hazards. Feasible and useful methods to correct the hazard are available: Among other methods, feasible and acceptable means to correct this hazard include but are not limited to: (a) secure the stairs to the overhead cranes that were located in the area where the tripping hazards are located; or (b) leave the stairs in the fabrication area while still secured and inspect for bad welds there.
