Minn. Stat. 182.653 subd. 2: The employer did not furnish to each employee, conditions of employment and a place of employment free from recognized hazards which caused or were likely to cause death or serious injury to employees; and Home made lifting devices using carbon steel chain were being used for overhead lifts. Slings used for overhead lifting must be of alloy steel, be proof tested with certificate issued,have a pernanently affixed identification tag that states size, grade, rated capacity, and reach. Annual inspections must be done,with records, and any attachments must be certified under the guidelines of CFR 1910.184.
