29 CFR 1915.73(d): When employees were exposed to unguarded edges of decks, platforms, flats, or similar flat surfaces, more than 5 feet above a solid surface, the edges were not guarded by adequate guardrails meeting the requirements of 29 CFR 1915.71(j)(1) and (2): a. Onboard United States Ship (USS) IWO JIMA, LHD-7, while moored at Naval Station Mayport, Florida, within a potable water tank onboard the vessel, on August 8, 2017, employees working at, or near, the unguarded edge of a platform were exposed to a 17.5-foot fall hazard to the steel deck lower level.
