29 CFR 1926.501(b)(1): Each employee on a working/walking surface with an unprotected side or edge which was 6 feet ( 1.8m ) or more above a lower level was not protected from falling by the use of guardrail systems, safety net systems, or personal fall arrest systems. (a) An employee performing trim work on a flat roof next to an exposed edge was not protected from falling to the lower level. This exposed the employee to a fall hazard of approximately 12 feet 5 inches on south side of the structure and approximately 17 feet on the north side of the structure.
