Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: STRUCK BY
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: (a)the hazards of being struck by falling portions of the hoisted load or the hoist of the Budgit 1 Ton electric chain hoist located in the put-together area of the Main Fab Bay. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method for abatement is to properly maintain all chain hoist hooks in accordance with Paragraph 16-2.2.3.3 (c) of the American National Standards Institute B30.16-1973, Overhead Hoists.
