Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: FALLING
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: Employees who were required to perform work on the top of unguarded ISO containers were exposed to a fall hazard. Falls from a height of approximately 12 feet onto a concrete surface are recognized as capable of causing death or serious physical harm. Among other feasible methods to correct this hazard, acceptable correction could include the installation of a gangway cage system that encloses the area of work, or an anchoring system that allows the use of personal fall arrest equipment.
