Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: FALLING
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employmnent and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employee in that employee was exposed to a fall hazard while standing on the top rail of elevating work platform. Eastsde: The employee was standing on the top rail approximately 30 feet above the floor installing plywood. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to instruct employees to read and understand manual that states in ANSI A92.6 .1990 section 8.10.1 "personnel footing" which states "personnel shall maintain a firm footing on the platform floor while working thereon.
