Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: FALLING
Section 5 (a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazards associated with fall hazards while using scissor lifts. Among other methods, one feasible method to reduce this hazard is to establish and enforce adequate Safety Programs with specific training relating to the use of Self Propelled Scissor Lifts. Procedures such as those stipulated by the Operators Manual supplied with the Lift, and A.N.S.I. A 92.6-1979 SELF PROPELLED ELEVATING WORK PLATFORMS. (a)8/2/94, Inside the building, employees used various brands of SELF PROPELLED SCISSOR LIFTS to perform various tasks at various heights throughout the building, without the ends of the platforms guarded to prevent falls.
