Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to hazard of being struck by flying parts: On October 7, 1994 an employee machining a part (Aluminum Pie Jaw Blanks for 12inch stub ends) in the Okuma lathe Model #LC40 was not provided with working drawings specifying how the part was to be attached during machining, including size and type of fasteners, and indicating speed of operation. Feasible abatement: Provide working drawing with detailed instructions for attaching part and indicating the safe speed of operation.
