Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: a) At the workplace, at the B-2 utility operator position, the employer did not provide a safe working surface for employees to remove rows of glass necks from the pallets so that the glassware could pass under the conveyors, thus exposing employees to fall and caught-in hazards. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is: 1. Break the package down and restack to the required height in the store room or before the package gets to the B-1 utility operator's position.s
