Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: a) In the front foundry, the air compressor/water room had extensive portions of its wall damaged and missing, including a 16 to 57 inch in height by 12 feet in length section of the south wall, a 4 feet in height by 2 feet in length section on the east side and a 6 feet in height by 3 feet in length section at the northwest corner, which exposed employees to struck type hazards. Among other methods, a feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazard is have the concrete block wall repaired with equivalent materials and by installing posts or railings to prevent powered industrial trucks from striking the wall.
