Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: FALLING
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physcial harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: (a) the hazard(s) of fall(s) from and/or through the three story wood frame structure under construction at the Wellston Pride Manor project in Wellston, Ohio during the floor covering work on elevated floors, during the fabrication and erection of wall panels, during the placement of floor and roof trusses when standing atop erectedf wall panels, and when working upon roof trusses that have not been braced and secured in accordance with the manufacturers recommendations. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is initiating and maintaining a fall protection program utilizing safety monitoring techniques, fall restraint and fall arrest systems; and following the truss plate institute recommendations for bracing wood roof trusses.
