OSH ACT of 1970 Section (5)(a)(1): The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that they were exposed to struck-by or caught-in-between hazards from mail carts weighing several hundred pounds rolling down the ramp during loading/unloading. a) Back Dock - Trailer Area: Employees unload carts and pallets weighing over 700 lbs. on a daily basis from trailers that are parked on an incline surface of approximately four degrees, exposing employees to struck-by and caught-in-between hazards from carts rolling down the incline, on or about 03/22/2017. Abatement documentation is required for this item in accordance with the requirements of 29 CFR 1903.19(d). b) Back Dock - Small Truck Area: Mail Carriers, operating alone, push carts weighing over 500 pounds up metal ramps into a truck on a daily basis. The metal ramps are on an incline of approximately 11 degrees, exposing employees to struck-by hazards, caught-under hazards, from carts either rolling back or falling off the ramp, on or about 03/22/2017. Abatement documentation is required for this item in accordance with the requirements of 29 CFR 1903.19(d).
