29 CFR 1926.850(a): Evidence in writing was not available that an engineering survey performed by a competent person had been performed prior to permitting employee(s) to start demolition operations: a) Lanett Bleachery and Dye Works in Lanett, Alabama: On or about February 14, 2017 and at times prior thereto, the employer did not ensure an engineering survey was conducted and documented for any of the individual and adjacent structures to determine the condition of the framing, floors, and walls, and possibility of unplanned collapse of any portion of the structure which exposed employees to death and other injuries associated with falls or being struck-by and crushed-by collapsing and falling portions of the structure.
