Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.212(a)(3)(ii): Point of operation guards were not designed and constructed as to prevent the operator from having any part of their body in the danger zone during the operating cycle: (a) In the cutting area: On or about January 18 2017 and at times prior the employer exposed employees to amputation hazards in that the blade guards on six carpet cutting machines can be bypassed, allowing employees to contact the cutter blades while machines are still running, while sharpening blades and clearing minor jams. Garland Sales, Inc. was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard, 29 CFR 1910.212(a)(3)(ii), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 743804, Citation Number 1 ,Item Number 5 and was affirmed as a Final Order on 01/10/2014, with respect to a workplace located at 1800 Antioch Road Dalton, Georgia 30720.
