Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.212(a)(3)(i): The point of operation of machines whose operation exposes an employee to injury, shall be guarded. The guarding device shall be in conformity with any appropriate standards therefore, or, in the absence of applicable specific standards, shall be so designed and constructed as to prevent the operator from having any part of his body in the danger zone during the operating cycle: The employer is failing to ensure that employees are protected from amputation hazards due to a partially unguarded drill press. This violation was most recently documented at a worksite located at or near 6336 John Pershing Dr., Omaha, Nebraska 68110 on or about January 10, 2017. An employee's glove got caught in the rotating drill bit of the Delta 16 ½ inch drill press when the Allen-Bradley Guardmaster interlock device for the guard was non-operational, causing an amputation on their hand.
