Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard:
OSH ACT of 1970 Section (5)(a)(1): The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees when: (a) On or about January 12, 2017, and employee walked behind a vehicle as it backed up to an unloading station, exposing him to struck by and caught between hazards. Among other methods, feasible and acceptable abatement methods to correct this hazard include reviewing and amending procedures which prohibit employees from crossing the path of travel of a moving vehicle; retraining supervisors and employees on those procedures, retraining supervisors and employees on communication methods between drivers and spotters; installing temporary barriers where appropriate; and ensuring trucks operated on the Respondent's worksites have operable and audible back up alarms.
