29 CFR 1926.1053(b)(13): The top or top step of a stepladder was used as a step: Employees are exposed to a fall hazard when standing on the top step of a step ladder performing residential framing activities. This violation was last observed on January 4, 2017, at 4515 Nicklaus Dr., Champaign, IL 61822; an employee was standing on the top step of a six foot step ladder performing framing activities. To abate this violation, the employer must ensure that its employees performing residential framing work using a step ladder do not stand on the top step. Pursuant to 29 CFR 1903.19, the employer must submit documents describing the steps it is taking to ensure compliance, including a description of how these steps protect its employees from fall hazards.
