Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard:
29 CFR 1926.501(b)(15): Each employee on a walking/working surface 6 feet (1.8 meters) or more above lower levels was not protected from falling by a guardrail system, safety net system, or personal fall arrest system: a. Employees stripping old roof materials at elevations greater than 8 feet above the ground are not being protected from fall hazards with the use of fall protections systems. The employer fails to assure effective protection against falls as required by the standard, as demonstrated on October 12, 2016, when two employees stripping old materials and installing new waterproof underlayment on a 3:12 pitch low slope roof of a residential structure located at 310 Pelican Ave, Daytona Beach, FL 32114 are exposed to the hazard greater than an 8 foot fall to the ground in that they do not have roof anchor points, lanyards, personal fall arrest gear, guardrails or safety nets.
