Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard:
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish to each of his employees employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized struck-by hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to his employees: Employees working in the warehouse were exposed to a struck-by hazard by the following: a. Racking systems not anchored to the ground; b. Racking system did not have plaques containing the maximum permissible unit load and/or maximum uniformly distributed load per level, and/or the racking system did not have the maximum total load per bay. Pursuant to 29 C.F.R. 1903.19, within ten (10) calendar days of the date of this citation, the employer must submit documentation showing that it is in compliance with the requirement, including describing the steps that it is taking to ensure that all industrial racks are anchored down and the permissible load is visible on the racks with plaques.
