Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.178(p)(1): If at any time a powered industrial truck is found to be in need of repair, defective, or in any way unsafe, the truck shall be taken out of service until it has been restored to safe operating condition. a) Terminals B, and C - The employer did not ensure that baggage tractors were taken out of service when in need of repair or defective in any way, exposing employees to struck-by hazards. Inoperable components include, but were not limited to: a. Broken Windshields b. Inoperable Horns c. Defective Headlamps d. Defective Taillights e. Defective E-brakes Observed on or about 15 AUG 2016 and 22 NOV 2016. American Airlines was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard 1910.178(p)(1) which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1019469, citation number 1, item number 2a and was affirmed as a final order on 17 APR 2015 with respect to a workplace located at 8000 Essington Avenue, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania 19153
