Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.147(c)(1): Energy control program. The employer shall establish a program consisting of energy control procedures, employee training and periodic inspections to ensure that before any employee performs any servicing or maintenance on a machine or equipment where the unexpected energizing, startup or release of stored energy could occur and cause injury, the machine or equipment shall be isolated from the energy source and rendered inoperative. Throughout facility - On or about August 05,2016, employees (full-time / temporary) were required to operate / maintain / repair equipment without adequate lockout / tagout procedures. The employer did not establish an energy control program for machine operators and / or maintenance employees performing product changes on rotary filler machines and other hardwired equipment. Employees hands / fingers were exposed to injury associated with the unexpected reenergization of equipment. Abatement documentation is required for this item in accordance with 29 CFR 1903.19(d).
