29 CFR 1910.22(c): Covers and/or guardrails were not provided to protect personnel from the hazards of open pits, tanks, vats, ditches, etc. The employer does not ensure floor hole covers or standing railing are used when employees are working around open pits: a) This violation was observed on or about July 13, 2016 in the powder coating booth, employees were exposed to a fall of approximately 38 inches into an uncovered /unguarded pit. b) This violation was observed on or about July 13, 2016 in the paint booth, employees were exposed to a fall of approximately 38 inches into an uncovered /unguarded pit. Pursuant to 29 CFR 1903.19, within (10) calendar days of the date of this citation, the employer must submit documentation describing the steps taken to ensure employees are protected from fall hazards.
