Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazard of falling from and /or with an elevated work platform that was not secured to the lifting carriage and /or forks of a powered industrial truck: (a)Frozen Repack Plant - An employee, sanitizing walls while standing on a platform supported by the forks of a lift truck, fell approximately twenty (20) feet when the platform was pulled off the forks because it was not secured to the truck, as occurred June 27, 1998. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazard is to provide and secure safety platform(s) to lifting carriage(s) and/or forks or utilize scissors lifts.rs
