29 CFR 1926.21(b)(4): In job site areas where harmful plants or animals were present, employees who were exposed were not instructed regarding the potential hazards, and how to avoid injury, and the first aid procedures to be used in the event of injury: On or about June 24, 2016, and at times prior thereto, workmen were installing an in-ground concrete swimming pool at a residential home in the vicinity of numerous wasps and wasp nests. The company failed to remove or eradicate the wasps. The company failed to advise employees of wasp avoidance techniques, the various hazards related to the insects and provide instructions for proper first-aid procedures. The workers were exposed to distraction and nuisance leading to slips, trips, falls or other injuries with tools, as well as the hazards and injuries of venomous insect stings.
