Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard:
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which was free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees from exposure to excessive heat: On or about April 25, 2016, employees were exposed to the hazard of excessive heat while framing a home and manually transporting building materials at an outdoor construction site. Exposure to elevated heat may result in serious heat induced injury and illness, which can include transient heat fatigue, heat rash, heat cramps, heat exhaustion, collapse, and heat stroke. Heat stroke is the most catastrophic of heat-related injuries and can result in death.
