Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: UNAPOPPROC
Section 88.4 - Code of Iowa (1999) 88.4: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which was free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazards of industrial truck tip over or collision with moving or stationary materials: (a)Facility - Employees were operating powered industrial trucks such as, but not limited to, Toyota lifts, models 5FB10, 13, 15, 18, & 20 and Caterpillar, model #GC25K, which were equipped with seat belts. However, the employer did not require the use of seat belts at the time of this inspection. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct the hazard is to require the use of seat belts while operating powered industrial trucks as referenced in ASME/ANSI B56.1a-1989 Addenda to ASME/ANSI B56.1-1988, and ASME B56.1-1993 Safety Standard for Low Lift and High Lift Trucks.d
