Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.138(a): Appropriate hand protection was not used when employee's hands were exposed to hazards such as those from skin absorption of harmful substances; severe cuts or lacerations; severe abrasions; punctures; chemical burns; thermal burns; and harmful temperature extremes: On or about April 15, 2016, in the South Engineering Center, Office # 33181, an employee that was troubleshooting a motion sensor that was located in the ceiling was exposed to thermal burns hazards due to the lack of hand protection being worn by the employee. In accordance with 29 CFR 1903.19(d), abatement certification is required for this violation (using the Certification of Corrective Action Worksheet), in addition, documentation demonstrating the abatement is complete must be included with your certification. This documentation may include, but is not limited to evidence of the purchase or repair of the equipment, photographic or video evidence of abatement, or other written records.
