Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: FALLING

Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: (a) Location - 6 Huckleberry Lane, Acton, MA: On or about 7/16/99, the employer failed to ensure that two employees working on the top and along the edge of a roof, with an elevation of approximately 22', were protected from falling. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement of this hazard would be to require and enforce the wear of a personal fall arrest system consisting of a full-body harness and lanyard.
