Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees: (a) On or about 07/25/96 at 3716 Chief Drive, Rapid City, SD, employees working under a mobile home were exposed to the hazard of being crushed. Among others, one feasible and acceptable method of abatement to correct this hazard is to: 1) Place cribbing under the I-beam at both ends of the mobile home prior to allowing employees to crawl under the mobile home and work. 2) Eliminate the stacking of air bags as a means to lift a mobile home. 3) Ensure the area around the mobile home is clear of dirt and other hazards that would hinder the placement of sound footings for lifting devices such as hydraulic jacks. 4) Follow safe work practices as defined by the American National Standards Institute - ANSI A225.1 - 1994, "Manufactured Home Installation".
