Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: The employees were exposed to a fall of 13 feet 6 inches from the roof area of the canopy to the ground. Jobsite: Employees were working on a roof of the service canopy , laborers were near the edge. Fall protection was not provided. (This item was abated during the inspection.) Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard include installing perimeter guardrails so as to prevent employees from falling over the edge.
