Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employmnent and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to struck by/caught between hazards: (a) On or about May 31, 2006 at the Condos on Route 98 in Fairview, PA; an employee was working inside trusses that had been erected on the roof of the condo. The bracing of the trusses was inadequate because the only bracing between trusses was the metal spacers and one small diaganol piece of wood at the southwest corner of the roof. AMONG OTHER METHODS, ONE FEASIBLE AND ACCEPTABLE METHOD OF ABATEMENT WOULD BE TO FOLLOW THE MANUFACTURER'S RECOMMENDATIONS ON ROOF TRUSS ERECTION OR THE BSCI 1-03 ISSUED BY THE WOOD TRUSS COUNCIL OF AMERICA AND THE TRUSS PLATE INSTITUTE.
