Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the possibility of truss collapse: (a) Swanville Road, Fairview, PA; employees erecting the trusses for a row of townhouses were not protected from the hazards of truss collapse in that the following items were not in accordance with the Truss Plate Institute HIB-91 Summary Sheet: (1) There was no bottom lateral and/or diagnol bracing. (2) Insufficient lateral bracing on the top chord: one where four are required. (3) There was no diagnol bracing on the top chord.
