29 CFR 1926.652(a)(1): Each employee in an excavation was not protected from cave-ins by an adequate protective system designed in accordance with 29 CFR 1926.652 paragraph (b) or (c) of this section: a) 2701 Frederick Road, Opelika, AL; On or about January 14, 2016 the employer exposed employees to cave-in hazards in that employees were allowed to work inside of a trench measuring eight to ten feet deep, twenty feet wide, and eighteen feet in length that was dug in class B soil. The employer had not complied with the standard in that employees were not protected from cave-ins by an adequate protective system and the excavation was sloped at an angle steeper than one and one-half horizontal to one vertical.
