29 CFR 1926.501(b)(13): Each employee(s) engaged in residential construction activities 6 feet (1.8 m) or more above lower levels were not protected by guardrail systems, safety net system, or personal fall arrest system: 448 Central Turnpike Road, Sutton, MA: On or about January 14, 2016 employees were engaged in residential construction activities 6 or more feet above lower levels and were not protected by guard rails, safety net systems, or personal fall arrest systems exposing employees to the following fall hazards: (a) Top plate, second floor: Employee installing ceiling joists was exposed to falls up to 24 feet. (b) Stairs, access, main entrance: Employees using stairs without hand rails or midrails were exposed to falls from stairs. (c) Stair case, interior, second floor access: Employees using staircase to access second floor work areas were exposed to falls from lack of midrails and hand rails which were above 45 inches. (d) Wall openings, front of dwelling, first floor: Employees installing structural members and framing were exposed to falls up to 10 feet. (e) Opening, basement access: Employees working near and around floor unguarded floor openings were exposed to falls over 8 feet. Specific abatement documentation that this violation has been corrected must be provided within 10 days of the abatement in accordance with 29 CFR 1903.19(d)(1).
