Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that there was an unguarded foot pedal on a punch press: a) Shop - the Piranha hydraulic punch press, Serial #SEP-120-104, had an unguarded foot pedal, therby creating the hazard of unintended operation due to falling or moving object hitting the pedal, 5/1/85. A recognized and feasible abatement method is to provide a fixed protective cover over the pedal.
