Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: FALLING
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: (a) On August 21, 1991, at Dade NDWWTP, AGS Building, employee was exposed to a possible fall hazard up to 15 feet when he was permitted to walk and work on the outside of the wall without proper fall protection or guardrails. Reference 29 CFR 1926.701 (f)(2). Among other methods one feasible and acceptable method of abating this hazard is to require employees to use safety belts and lanyards that are secured to a permanent member of the structure.
