Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: UNAPEQUIP
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the unsafe operation of equipment from the lack of training on equipment which had been modified to such an extent that the equipment's operation had been altered: In the following instances, training had not been provided to employees to ensure safe operation of equipment in which the operation had been changed through the addition of light curtains: a)Operators of the 175 Ton Cincinnati, General Purpose Mechanical Press Brake, asset #3508. b) Operators of the Cincinnati, Model #135CB 10, Hydraulic Press Brake, Asset #1619. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to train the operators in the use of the light curtains.
