Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: BURNS
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: risk of molten metal explosion resulting in burns. (a) Metal transfer area from the cupola to the disa - Roof leaks in this area create risks of rain water contacting the molten metal creating a potential for explosion. There is also an area where pig molds are poured in the transfer area, and the floors are not maintained in a dry condition due to the roof leaks. One method of control, but not limited to, would include repairing the roof leaks.
