Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: CRUSHING
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: (a) Inside Bays of Garage: Employees were exposed to a crushing hazard while working under an air and hydraulic operated lifts for car repairs that were not properly maintained or repaired, such as: - without the protection of a fully operational mechanical safety locking device on two lifts - missing a steel contact pad at the right rear frame contact lift - needs welding repairs for the clamp at the entrance ramp to the drive on lift Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to inspect, maintain and repair the lifts on a continuous basis.uous
