Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: CRUSHING
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970; On or about September 1, 1995 and at times prior thereto, the employer did not furnish employment which was free from recognized hazards which were likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to crushing injuries from moving vehicles and that employees were not in clear view of the operator during backing operations of a sanitation and refuse truck. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazardous condition would be to communicate and strictly enforce work rules established in WMI Safety and Health Manual, Pg. 6, Para IX, Backing, 4.
