Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard:
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which was free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to an ejection hazard during vehicle operation: The rear door latch on 1995 Ford Aerostar cargo van was inoperable. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this apparent hazardous condition is to maintain the rear door latch according to vehicle manufacturer's requirements. DISCLAIMER: a) The employer is not limited to the abatement method(s) suggested by OSHA. b) The employer is responsible for selecting and implementing an effective abatement method.
