Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: STRUCK BY
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: a)Sub-basement freight elevator, 37-41 E. 18th Street, New York, N.Y. - On or about 1/26/94 and at times prior thereto employees were exposed to the hazard of being struck by a moving elevator car. Hoistway door electric interlocks were not working. ABATEMENT NOTE: One feasible and acceptable abatement method among others to correct the hazard is to follow ASME/ANSI A17.3 1990, Section 2.7.1(b) and maintain these interlocks in a working condition.
